The Effect of the Corset on Women's Position in Victorian Society

I recently wrote an essay on the effects of the corset on women's position in Victorian society for a modern history assignment. Relevant, yay! Enjoy :)

  1. Super interesting! I thought particularly the sections about how even the corset's pernicious health effects contributed to harmful attitudes about women (like the increased tendency to faint leading to women being thought of as frail/weak, the restricted airflow meaning they had to breathe harder and thus drawing attention to the chest etc.) were really enlightening.
